Impi Robotics

We are Impi Robotics, a FIRST robotics team based out of Ferndale High School in Ferndale, Michigan. We got our name from the Impi Warriors of South Africa. We adopted the name through our close relationship from a team in South Africa. The team started in 2007 working out of an old woodshop room with very little knowledge of FIRST within our school/community. Now, in our eleventh year, we have spread the message of FIRST throughout our district. We are forever working toward our mission as a team of waging a war on technological illiteracy through the use of the FIRST robotics programs.

This year, in 2018, we were one of the winners at the First in Michigan (FIM) District Center Line Event. At Center Line, we also won the Safety Award and the Quality Award. Over our years as a team, we have won various awards such as the The District Chairman’s Award in the 2016 and 2017 season respectively, Imagery Award, Creativity Award, Industrial Design Award, and the Team Spirit Award. We also won the Gaylord District Event in 2017 and the Standish District Event in 2015, and went to the Championship Event in St. Louis both years. We are generously sponsored by many local companies, including Schaeffler, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles, Ford, Hydro, and IBM. We build at Ferndale High School and are supported by our amazing Impi families!
