FIRST Team 1025
About Us
We are FIRST Team 1025, Impi Robotics, a 501(c)3 robotics team based out of Ferndale High School in Ferndale, Michigan. Fueled by our close relationship with a team in South Africa, we adopted the Impi Warrior name. Our team started in 2007 working out of an old woodshop room with very little knowledge of FIRST within our school and community. Now, in our 17th year, we continue to spread the message of FIRST throughout our district. Our team has inspired 4 FIRST Lego League Explore Teams, 5 FIRST Lego League teams, and 3 FIRST Tech Challenge teams, one of which won their district competition in 2022 and qualified for the State Championship. Ferndale Schools now offers engineering classes and summer STEM camps. We are forever working toward our mission as a team of waging a war on technological illiteracy through the use of the FIRST robotics programs.
Over our time in FIRST, we have received numerous FIRST Robotics Competition awards, including Engineering Inspiration, District Chairman’s (Community Outreach, now called Impact), Entrepreneurship, Judge’s, Safety, Industrial Design, Quality, Creativity, and Team Spirit. Our team has demonstrated its community outreach and skills by receiving the Chairman’s Award in 2016 and 2017, being a member of a winning alliance at First in Michigan (FIM) District events (2015, 2017, 2018, 2019, and 2022), consistently qualifying for the FIM States Championship, and participating in the FIRST World Championship (2015, 2017, and 2023). We are generously supported by our amazing Impi Warriors families and sponsored by many local companies including FCA, Ford, Hydro, Detroit Axle, and Ferndale High School.
